چکیده
Soil microbes are involved in many important ecosystem processes including nutrient acquisition, biogeochemical cycling and soil aggregation. microbial diversity affects the belowground dynamics fate of carbon nutrients. for agricultural plant production systems, hence understanding effects agroforestry systems on microbes, is necessary order to improve health fertility. The objective study was determine biomass, populations maize-banana based system. conducted at Kenya Agricultural Livestock Research Organization farm Kisii County. experiment laid out a randomized complete block design with maize banana intercropped trees. treatments were; Maize, (MMBB), Maize-banana, Calliandra (MBCC), Maize (MM), (BB), Leucaena (MBLL), Sesbania (MBSS) fertilizer (MMF). samples were collected from fields using auger. biomass measured chloroform fumigation extraction. Fungi bacteria enumerated by serial dilution plate method.Shannon index (H’) Simpson (1 - D) used calculation species diversity. SAS (version 9) statistical software analysis. tree had significantly higher (MBSS-86.33, MBCC-52.66 MBLL- 47.0MgC/Kg) (MBSS-197, MBCC-128.0 MBLL-111.25x108cfu g-1soil) fungi (MBSS-50.83, MBCC-29.167 MBLL-14.0x105cfu g-1 soil) (MBSS- (H' =1.61, D = 1), MBCC- =1.04, 0.83), MBLL 0.52, 0.5) MBSS =1.39, 1) MBCC D= =1.56, 0.93). increased an indication improved recommended adoption farmers.

Soil Microbial Biomass Determination
Basic Idea: The quantity of microbial biomass in a given soil sample is inherently difficult to measure. To some degree, any measurement of microbial biomass is relative – different methodologies or variations in methodologies will yield microbial biomass estimates that are not directly comparable. For this reason, if you want to measure microbial biomass – choose a method and stick with it exa...
متن کاملMicrobial diversity and soil functions
Soil is a complex and dynamic biological system, and still in 2003 it is difficult to determine the composition of microbial communities in soil. We are also limited in the determination of microbially mediated reactions because present assays for determining the overall rate of entire metabolic processes (such as respiration) or specific enzyme activities (such as urease, protease and phosphom...
متن کاملPlant diversity drives soil microbial biomass carbon in grasslands irrespective of global environmental change factors Running head: Soil microbial biomass in grasslands
1 Soil microbial biomass is a key determinant of carbon dynamics in the soil. Several studies have 2 shown that soil microbial biomass significantly increases with plant species diversity, but it 3 remains unclear if plant species diversity can also stabilize soil microbial biomass in a changing 4 environment. This question is particularly relevant as many global environmental change (GEC) 5 fa...
متن کاملCan Transgenic Maize Affect Soil Microbial Communities?
The aim of the experiment was to determine if temporal variations of belowground activity reflect the influence of the Cry1Ab protein from transgenic maize on soil bacteria and, hence, on a regulatory change of the microbial community (ability to metabolize sources belonging to different chemical guilds) and/or a change in numerical abundance of their cells. Litter placement is known for its st...
